One more last dose

Poem by Refilwe J Mokgatlenyane
Left me in some indefinable lachrymose
I should’ve known it would be much more hurting to stay in too close
But before I let go, please allow me this one more last dose
All of the rose petals have wilted but I keep trying to stick them back together
Empty hopes: I keep reading the books we used to read while am sitting alone by the fire
Unbelievable loser: I keep convincing myself that you were never a liar
Foolish and stupid me; I can’t seem to be satisfied of how you badly broke me apart
But maybe, at least, at least one more last dose will be able to keep me stable at heart
Fighting to close my eyes every night because I still see your face
Went from eating too much to staying without food for days
One more last dose, maybe I’ll forget that in my heart you had a place
One more last dose, I swear I’ll be okay
Struggling to keep the broken pieces in the perfect place
I ended up swallowing one piece of my own broken heart
But, maybe one more last dose is enough, will be enough to deal away with the sad part
One more last dose of you, is enough to brighten me up all over again

PoetryCrying a river full
I’m crying a river full of my pilling tears,I’m still enduring the pain,Yet I don’t know I’ll endure it until when…I think, maybe it will passYet I also believe it can even be for a lifetime.
PoetryThe dream she had last night
She is being chased by her own shadowLocked behind the bars of sinLocked behind the dark world she cannot seeA world without stars and the moon
PoetryThis is a jeremiad of my hopelessly drowning emotions
From waking up at 6am for a morning jogDown the busy street downtown with my dogThe everyday hangouts and dinners after workFrom scribbling random messages into my diary every morning when I wake…
